I am a BACP registered Integrative Counsellor with a BSc (Hons) Integrative Counselling degree (BACP accredited). Integrative Therapy allows the of use theories and practice from several counselling theories such as Person-centred, CBT and Psychodynamic. This means that the I am not fixed in their ideas about what will be best for the client and can draw from a number of resources, skills, attitudes & knowledge. This allows for a more holistic approach in offering support for dealing with past issues, present problems, and future anxieties.
My sessions are very much led by what the client wants to achieve from their counselling using my integrative skills & knowledge. In sessions we will focus on the topics or issues that have been discussed during the assessment by use of processing, reflecting, and validating negative thoughts, feelings, and experiences. When working with couples, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is also integrated into the therapy which allows the couple to track and change their negative cycle, repair any attachment injuries, and learn ways to better manage conflict.
I have worked in NHS IAPT, Community Mental Health, Education and Charity settings over the last 6 years.
